Meso-American Slider (Trachemys venusta)

The Meso-American slider (Trachemys venusta) ranges along the Gulf Coast of southeastern Mexico, Yucatán Peninsula, and northern Central America. We are actively monitoring several populations in a series of cenotes (limestone ponds and caverns) in southern Quintana Roo, in partnership with biologists from the Benemerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla.
